Peppercorn: How a "Fruit" Supports Brain Health

What is your favorite fruit? Apples or bananas? Blueberries or raspberries? Mangos, perhaps?

How about... pepper?

That's right. Although we know it better in its dried and ground form, pepper is technically a fruit. It is the dried fruit called a peppercorn that is ground into the spice with which we are so familiar. And this "fruit" is packed with nutritional benefits.

Piperine
What gives pepper its kick, and also provides its nutritional punch, is called piperine. Piperine is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, and it helps support overall digestive health. One of its most important benefits, however, is that it enhances the bioavailability of nutritional compounds. More simply, piperine supports nutrient absorption in the intestines.

It has even been shown to increase absorption of curcumin and its source, turmeric, by 2,000%. Otherwise, curcumin would simply pass through the body and we would miss its ability to improve brain function.

Where is Piperine Found?

Piperine can be extracted from black pepper and is available as BioPerine. BioPerine is found in the nutritional supplement, NeuroPruTect.

NeuroPruTect supports brain health with 200mg of turmeric rhizome extract (95% curcuminoids) by boosting mental acuity, improving memory, increasing alertness, and providing antioxidant support. NeuroPruTect also aids in surgery preparation and recovery as part of SurgiPack.

SurgiPack is a specially formulated line of supplements developed to speed surgery recovery times and was developed by neurosurgeon Dr. Chad Prusmack. If you will soon be undergoing surgery, or if you recently have had surgery, SurgiPruTect will help accelerate your recovery.
